Chinese artist Zhou modeled a pair of ankle boots encrusted in 1,5550 carats of Natural Fancy Color Diamonds during Hong Kong’s Business of Design Week worth $3.2 million dollars. Designed by A.F. Vandevorst, a luxury designer out of Antwerp and in collaboration with the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), Flanders Fashion Institute and Diarough/UNI-Design the boots are a tribute to Antwerp’s renown as a world creative capital particularly in fashion and diamond manufacturing.
The boots are comprised of 39,083 Natural Fancy Color Diamonds with a total carat weight of 1,550 carats. The majority of the diamonds covering the boots are pink, champagne and gray with redish-pink diamonds highlighting the brand’s logo “A.F. Vandevorst”. The diamonds were set in 4,783 grams of gold and took 30,000 hours worth of hand crafted labour.
The diamonds were supplied by Diarough/UNI-Design.
