Yellow Diamond Engagement Ring Spotted in The Wolf of Wallstreet
I finally got around to watching The Wolf of Wallstreet and I have to say, it was great. Fantastic acting, fantastic costumes and of course a great storyline based on the true story of Jordan Belfort played by Leonardo DiCaprio showcasing his rise and fall on Wallstreet.
Amidst a world of obscene wealth, and debauchery we see Belfort proposing to then girlfriend Naomi with a rather large yellow diamond ring. My guess was a 5 carat vivid. The actual ring was a 7 carat yellow set in platinum… what else but the best. Definitely looks to be a vivid yellow but I can’t say for certain. Of course I had to get the details and found an excerpt from Belfort’s book where he writes…
“I woke up to the angry yet gorgeous face of my second wife, Nadine. In her right hand was an empty twelve-ounce water glass; in her left hand was her own balled-up fist, punctuated by a seven-carat, yellow canary diamond in a platinum setting. She was less than five feet away, rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet, like a prizefighter. I made a quick mental note to watch out for the ring.”
The ring in the context of Belfort’s life makes total sense. It’s not often that a ring of this calibre stands out so prominently in a movie. It’s unusual indeed. However, when you have this much money, you can afford the very best and it just goes to show that in the 1980’s when natural fancy color diamonds were relatively unheard of only the very wealthy would know about them and buy something so luxurious.
